• We utilize equipment of various sizes depending on how much room we have to excavate. We require a minimum of 5 feet width to excavate with our equipment, or it would require a hand dig.
  • We use larger equipment for open areas.
  • Our equipment is utilized for moving dirt and landscaping upon completion of the dig.
  • Once the excavation is complete, we begin to clean & prepare the concrete surface. We will repair if required prior to the application of our primer adhesive.
  • However the basement must be completely dry prior to application of any product; we use a high temperature tiger torch to accomplish this.
  • We apply the primer prior to installation of the blue skin.
  • We now install the blue skin membrane on top of the primer. The blue skin overlaps the basement footings.
  • We then seal the top of the blue skin and the very bottom below the footings with an acrylic sealer to ensure complete water proof seal.
  • We then install blue board 2 inch to the exterior wall with a silicon adhesive so as not to damage the blue skin membrane.
  • It is important to use insulating board for protection of the blue skin and the insulating value of the board itself. It would give you an R10 value reducing the humidity in your basement considerably.
  • We then install the weeping tiles along the base of the footings. The weeping tiles are interconnected to your basement sump-pump system.
  • It is important that they function correctly as it removes any excess water from your footings. If you do not currently have one, we will install a complete system including a sump pit and pump.
  • We do install leaching pits in the country for those who do not have sewer drains.
  • We then cover the weeping tile with ¾ inch aggregate crushed rock to a minimum of 6 inches. This allows for quick drainage to the weeping tiles from the dirt.
  • The final process involves backfilling the trench.
  • This is what it looks like when we are done, keeping in mind that the ground will sink over a short time after some rain falls, and you will have to re-grade certain low areas.
  • The job site is quite congested during the process and it is always a good idea to get permission from your neighbours before the excavation commences. The job usually takes 1 week to complete.
